WhatsApp now sends close to 100 billion messages every day, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg sharing the information himself. WhatsApp crossed the figure of sending 100 billion messages a day for the first time on New Year's Eve last year.

During the Quarterly Earning Call, Zuckerberg himself shared that 2.5 billion people worldwide use one or more Facebook apps every day and have more than 10 million active advertisers on services offered by the company. New Year's Eve is the day when WhatsApp usually sees a huge jump in message exchange and this has been happening for the last several years. With this number, no other messaging service is even around WhatsApp. This is due to the growing userbase of the app, which crossed the 2 billion (200 crore) mark earlier this year. According to a report by Statista, WhatsApp reached five billion downloads on Android in January this year, making it only the second non-Google app to reach this huge figure.
